Great Central Railway - Mail by Rail Gala - 23/07/11

The Great Central Railway's 2011 Mail by Rail Gala was focusing on the 40th Anniversary since the last mail drop on the mainline, and there isn't anywhere else that would be better suited to host such an event.

Differing from last years event, there would be a steam only line up (with the exception of the DMU) running the trains throughout the day. The day would see a mixed goods set, passenger trains, a wedding special, and of course the travelling post office demos running up and down the line, with six locos covering the service.

Highlights in this video include, 47406 on goods runs, 48305 on passenger services, and 4953 & 5542 on TPO runs at Quorn, with the driver of 5542 pulling on both whistles as they speed through.

Great! Simply Great! Loved the shot of 5542 on the Mail Train! Some Good GWR Whisleing and Barking!
