5 23 09 Barn Fire Tanker Shuttle

Liberty Twp Fire Department responded to a barn fire west of Findlay, Ohio on Saturday the 23rd of May. This video primarily records the tanker shuttle from the structure fire to the water source. Mutual Aid was received from Blanchard Township (Benton Ridge) and McComb. The barn was a total loss. However, we were able to save the near by structures.

@rtw149 Where I'm from, we're not allowed to run code with any kind of siren,etc after 10PM (only full lights) unless we approach any traffic intersections or moderate traffic, then it's usually just a quick blast with the Q or horns. Taxpayers don't like sleep interruptions ya know.

@tubesteakdynamo i agree with you, if there is no need for it it shouldn't be on. In CT its required to have a siren audible with red lights. These are the permits:

Red/Siren

Red and White Light Combination/Siren

Red (no siren, stationary use only)

White/Siren

There is no permit that uses red lights without a siren while responding. I Don't agree with the law and we don't always follow it but we have gotten in an accident with a truck without a siren audible and could've gotten in trouble

@rtw149 , I''ve worked in forestry in about 8 states so far and have yet to come across a LAW...I have come across operator preference and in a some cases departmental policy. In any case there is no need for extra ruckus and unnecessary noise, in fact most west coast rural tanker shuttles run without lights unless they're in a traffic or low visibility setting. If it is this company's policy, perhaps making a distinction between the "right" thing and the mandated thing is in order.

@tubesteakdynamo in most states, if you are using red lights you must have a siren audible while in motion some times there is no need for the siren but there doing the right thing

Exactly who were they using the siren for? There's NO-ONE one the road, no need for all that ruckus.
