Well with the right gear ratios you can do a 10 second quater mile with just a tad under 300BHP from a fiesta size/weight car. And yeah, im serious. 0-60 in 3 seconds, 0-140 [which is top speed roughly] in around 8 -9 seconds with a 10.9 second pass which is technically still 10 second 1/4 mile.
Gearboxes play a HUGE part in sheer acceleration speed. Just look into ride on lawn mower racing and what differnce it makes when people play with the gearing from the engine!

@tpvalley , still there is no way that will do a 10.8 unless its got some serious quaife sequential box with tight ratios and one solid lsd i dont belive it would do it under 11 seconds. , yea lol it would go theough tires prob get a few hours thats it lo

its just a case of more boost and fuel and keeping dynamic compression ratio and inlet temperature within certain limits.
People have been getting near 200bhp without turbos from zetecs on T-bodies.
