A recipe for making Moxie chicken. Empty a third to a half a can of Moxie soda, place in a roasting pan with a cup of water. Position the whole chicken upright over the can. If the neck is not still attached (as it is here), plug the neck cavity with a small potato or onion. Preheat the oven to 500 degrees. Roast the chicken in the oven for 20 minutes and then reduce heat to 375 degrees. Cook for another 30 to 45 minutes until a meat thermometer measures 165 degrees in the thickest part of the thigh. Made with chickens raised in Red Hook, Brooklyn (courtesy of John Marciano, author of Anonyponymous) in the Freebird Books kitchen labs.

  • Brian, this is the most obscene you've ever done. You'll never be able to hang your hat in St. Louis.
