Author's Note: All of the events in this story are true. Roy and Silo are called chinstrap penguins because of the delicate line of black feathers that loops under their beaks, as if to hold a hat in place. After years of living side by side in the Central Park Zoo, they discovered each other in 1998 and they have been a couple ever since. Tango, their only chick, was born from an egg laid by another penguin couple named Betty and Porkey. That couple had often hatched their own eggs, but they had never been able to care for more than one at a time. In 2000, when Betty laid two fertile eggs, Rob Gramzay decided to give Roy, Silo, and one of those eggs a chance to become a family. If you go to the Central Park Zoo, you can see Tango and her parents splashing about in the penguin house along with their friends, including Nipper, Squawk, Charlie, Wasabi, and Piwi. There are forty-two chinstrap penguins in the Central Park Zoo and over ten million chinstraps in the world. But there is only one Tango.

  • THIS is the most banned book in America? Not Mein Kampf, not Mao's Little Red Book, not some violent graphic novel like 300. A book about a penguin family is the most dangerous.

I'm not sure whether I should be very very disappointed or very very sad.

  • This book was sweet and I think it's important to read to children because love and family doesn't matter about gender and weather you have two daddies, or two mommies. I

  • Cutest. Children's book. Ever. <3

  • I cannot stand narrow-minded people. This book is beautiful.

  • @MrLancasterbomber I hope your son turns out gay. (Lol, like if that were bad) :)

  • @MsBarefootMom I am a proud Catholic, but I also accept homosexuality and I do believe it DOES HAPPEN in nature. Did you choose to be straight?

  • @koish13 "Oh man, people are calling me gay! I guess I'm gay now."

I mean no disrespect, but you are wrong. It doesn't happen like that, bro.

And yes, it WAS in their nature, and there's NOTHING wrong with that. Penguins didn't get bullied into thinking they were gay.

  • The main reason why this book was banned isnt because of the fact that it's a homosexual couple. Animals react to instinct and when this book is read to children, the kids will believe that it was their instinct and nature, that when you are labeled gay its because of nature. But what happens if one child is bullied in school, constantly called "nerd" or "gay", he would not become homosexual because it is his choice but because he was labeled as one, he believes he is truly is one.

  • @Twinklelinkle Because we are mostly a Christian nation and the BIBLE says it is wrong and it is! They will all face their judgement in the end. It is a choice-not nature. Making such a book teaches children that it happens in nature-naturally- - it DOES NOT!

  • @MrLancasterbomber Why are you watching it?

  • Disgusting gay bullsh*t. My son will not watch such trash.

  • made me cry :') so beautiful.
