those walls didn't fly to allow for the shot, guys... i live in this building, have been here 16 years... my place is an identical apartment to the one in this scene, two floors up... i have been in that exact apartment a zillion times... those are the original 1919 walls, Welles was a master of in-camera effects and the king of the dutch angel... and the doorframe at :52 isnt' to a bedroom, but to the kitchen...

@GetMeThere1 removable walls, its a baisic set trick to get the camera in and out, the things the size of a go-kart by this period.

"You framed that boy! FRAMED HIM!"
-
"Ehhhh... I DON'T SPEAK MEXICAN."

the woman in the scene is the mom of Tatum o neil: she was in several alfred hitchcok presnts as well as a few movies, but perhaps her southern accent limited her roles or something. She was quite good in this, Welles knew what he was doing using her.

Amazing! I've seen this movie probably 20 times and never noticed that those scenes were two very long takes!
Interestingly, they initially DID show a bit of the left side of the bedroom doorframe at 00:52, then, for the rest, the left sides of the door frames were missing. So I guess the camera was on a track going from living room to bedroom to bathroom.
