Tension is building in Brussels. As European government leaders like French President Nicolas Sarkozy are openly discussing the prospect of European disintegration, the European Commission is stepping up its efforts to keep Europe together. Literally.
The president of the Commission himself on Wednesday presented a plan to bring forward 50 billion euros in investments in infrastructure across Europe. Money to be used for new roads, railways, pipelines and digital connections.
Barroso's press conference immediately was followed by two other high-level Commission press conferences. Siim Kallas for Transport and Gunther Oettinger for Energy.
The Commission's barrage of 'good news' appeared to be an attempt to deflect attention away from the euro crisis and the looming default of Greece.
Journalists were asked to stick to the topic of the press conference but some still managed to squeeze in question on euro crisis, getting Barroso to say that Sunday's EU summit will not be the end of all of the troubles.
This weekend's crucial euro talks will start on Friday evening with eurozone finance ministers. An outcome of the euro crisis summit is expected before financial markets open on Monday. Whatever will be decided, it's clear it will be a long weekend for many people in Brussels.

It is useless to prolong the agony of a dying man, the Union was a complete failure, very soon it will be just a bad memory, and the European people will be free again.

The best thing the French, German's and the British can do is to leave this floundering vain anti-democratic institution - get the franc and the deutschmark back.
The EU has been a disaster from start to finish and has had bold ambitions which it has implemented without consulting the people in Europe.
The only people who would support this sinking ship are EU employees and those who get money from the EU ... and few brainwashed folk from Brussels!!
EU=debt slavery for all!
Reject EU!!!
