Horse Drawn Promotions - Breaking horses to harness. http://www.horsedrawnpromotions.com/
This hackney cross mare had bolted in the carriage 3 times with her owners. We reschooled her and drove her through town, over the hazards etc in a snaffle. By training her this way and making her more confident, she became able to be driven safely and happily in the carriage.

  • That is SUCH a cute town! Where is it?

  • @TheHorseLady1212 Andover in Hampshire

  • just like the NYC carriage horses...lots of cars and trucks.

  • @LastTree We train our horses to cope with heavy traffic and cars because this is what they could encounter in their daily lives, even in the countryside where you can get tractors and other machinery. Any horse, even one that is only worked in a field on a farm, could meet a 4x4, car, tractor or a hedge-trimmer at some point in their lives. We believe it is better that they have experienced situations like this, and can remain calm and happy, rather than be frightened by it.

  • There is a guy in our town who lost his drivers license so he ride his horse in a western saddle, and one day he went through the mcdonalds drive though on the horse. LOL! Best thing ever! Haha!

  • After watching way too many videos of people with no understanding of horsemanship and hands of iron, I was delighted to find this video. Kudos.

  • wow amazing horse your a great trainer :) i wish mine was like that truley amazing x

  • @barryhook2 I live in near you!!

  • Nice shot at the bridge @ 2:05. Bet the horse is interested. Horse: "Holy crap that's a lot of traffic down there. Interesting equipment these humans have."

  • @xXRockstarChickXx What happened to him? Hope the cops didn't get him, that's resourcefulness in the best way there.

  • @Saartje05 Actually the carriage in the beginning is not a marathon competition vehicle - it is our purpose-built training vehicle with dual brakes. This one was made wider than usual so we could incorporate a walk-through between the two front seats to the back seats.

  • @barryhook2 The cart in the beginning (marathon) is far too big though. I think the combination would have been disqualifized here.

  • Outstanding work. I have been working with an incredibly "spooky" shetland. I'm just exposing him to anything he could come across throughout the course of his day. This Hackney mare is beyond where I want my Shetland. I want to feel comfortable with my 6 year old daughter driving him around other pedestrians, cars, tractors, and other horses. It's quite a process and the time you've spent on that mare is proven. Great work.
