The more comfortable you are as a bass player, the better your playing will be. It also prevents alot of bad habits and injuries.

  • I have a heavy awkward shaped bass, much like a warlock style but it has no comfortable sitting position without it falling or sliding, and my shoulder kills because i think its larger than my old bass.

  • is that tay zonday lol

  • One of the most important points of this video is comfort and balance. Before we get into technique, style, approach or whatever, you'll find real quick when you play even a 2-3 hour show that numbing pain in your shoulder says you got the strap set wrong for you and that your bess isn't balanced. Don't fight the thing. It's gotta sit there and let you do your thing. If you're constntly fighting your bass for balance and position, it affects your playing tremendously.

  • Okay

  • @aassyr1111 true dat. (:

  • washburn... nice bass....big like on washburn basses and on this man....

  • nice wash burn i just got one today

  • @TheOzzyCometh

wow, you summed it up perfectly man. There's so much bullshit on youtube arguing about flea being the "best" bass player and what not. If only everyone read your comment.

  • @cortJPS they have to choose because like most wannabe musicians they have to come off as being elitist in some way, which is basically like saying anyone else has no valid opinion. I would side step flea and move onto Les Claypole here, now he may not be the best bassist in your opinion but les sounds like les and he does it better than anyone else.... wow i think ive just come up with a new concept "BE YOURSELF!"

  • and on another note - yeah black people do tear up the bass lol. they just have natural rhythm. black drummers/bassists tend to pick it all up alot quicker
