Kari tries to replicate the NASA footage of a feather and a hammer dropping at the same time in a vacuum. NASA tried to do it to prove Galileo's hypothesis that all objects are affected equally by gravity.

  • @Laurelindo Exactly. It's amazing to what depths some will go to try and disprove something. On Earth, it would take ~0.53s for the hammer to drop 54in (chest height) and ~1.3s on the Moon (as seen in the video). So, speed the video by 240% to duplicate the fall rate on Earth, and what happens.? Did the amphetamines just kick in?

  • @zrogoszinski They do that just to demonstrate a fact, plus it is quite educational and entertaining, so I wouldn't really say it's a waste of time. =P

  • @awizardalso Haha I know right? The gravity on the moon is something like 1,6 m/s^2, right?

That would mean all the movements of the astronauts - in "regular speed" (or whatever we should call it in this case) - would be so fast that it almost looked like a movie on Fast Forward.

I refuse to believe that the astronauts moved that fast all the time in all the moon landing videos in order to "fake moon gravity".

  • @nwopropaganda You say you know the rate objects fall. OK, then. do the math and tell me how fast would you need to 'speed up' the video to get the free fall rate on the Moon to equal that on Earth. Now, explain to me why if you speed the video up by that rate, ALL the other motions, like arm motions, turning around, etc, become highly exaggerated. This works in ALL Moon videos. Before you start talking about gravity and physics, show us the numbers! I've done the math and working on the video.

  • @nwopropaganda 40 years ago, we were in relatively decent financial condition. We were also in a 'space race' with the USSR and actually had something to prove. . Over the last 40 years, our government has run amok with the money. There isn't any money to supposedly 'waste' on space exploration, plus, there is nothing to be gained now from going to the moon. We've been there, we know what's there (or is not there) so what's the point? Just to prove you 'hoax believers' wrong? Wrong answer!

  • One of my pet peeves about Mythbusters is that they prove myths that arent myths. Waste of time.

  • @shananagans5 why don't you google the world's largest vacuum chamber in the world. It's where Nasa conducts training for astronauts. Why do you have so much trouble admitting NASA faked the moonlandings. They can't go today, tomarrow nor in 2020. The Chinese were going to try an go with the Russians who are ahead of the USA and they won't be going in 2035. China has plenty of money. Why do you think the USA was able to go 40yrs ago and not anytime in between. Hard to imagine, but it's true.

  • @nwopropaganda So, the guy in his backyard had the feather pointed down, from a lower distance and the hammer still landed first. On the moon the feather was dropped sideways (in its least aerodynamic position possible) not to mention it clearly didn't flutter or move in any way like it would falling in air. It didn't turn over, it didn't move to the left or right. It fell exactly like it would with no air. You really believe we didn't go to the moon, don't you? lol

  • @shananagans5 in this video at about 4:50- there is a scene with the famous feather drop and a man doing it in his backyard. watch?v=YWgXM6I_bvE

he gets it right. I know about the rate objects fall. So you don't have to explain the video again. The point is the feather drop was done on Earth because no man has ever been on the moon. The light downy feather does not have the same structure as a big falcon feather and therefore the falcon's feather is more aerodynamic.
