You cant get that DOF with the kit lense i had to get the Sony alpha f1.8 to get any real bokeh. but the AF on the alpha lense using the e-mount body is very very slow and loud. the only thing the kit lense is good for is video if you had to use AF
@dudueichi Now, if you were focused at a building (B) a little while away, the hills are now really, only 10 miles from where the camera is focused; M................B..............H, what this all boils down to is that the hills are more out-of-focus when the camera is focused at a flower (M) than at the building (B). Does that sort of make sense? If it doesn't, or if it does, then hit me up VIA private message and I can explain more. I'll be glad to help!
@dudueichi It's not a stupid question, by the way, at one point, I didn't know about all this junk! =D Coninueing from the previous reply;
A bigger sensor also makes low-light shooting WAY easier to achieve because it takes in so much light. Also, the shallow depth of field is more.. ummm... BOLD? In macro shooting Because (here comes another example) In macro shooting, the camera is focused at point M while the hills, 20 miles down the road are point H. M....................................H
@dudueichi With a (consumer) HD camcorder, this effect is very minimal, it's there for the most part, just minimal. Part of the reason this crazy amount of depth-of-field is produced by a DSLR is because of the HUGE sensor, for example, the sensor in a camcorder/point-and-shoot is say this big; o, while the one in a DSLR is this big; O. The bigger sensor takes in more light producing the shallower depth of field yadda-yadda-yadda... Hey! I should make a beginners guide to cameras/camcorders....
@hilariousguys Hi, i have a stupid question, but i'd like to know if this blur background effect you've mentioned is only possible with these kind of cameras or hd-camcorders are also capable??? I mean, i 'd like to buy a camcorder that could do exactly like this video...please, can you give me any tip? sorry my bad english!
