On a foggy Saturday morning in September, I drove a 2010 Prius up Highway 1 in California (Pacific Coast Highway) for the first trip on my 2010 Jetblue All You Can Jet (AYCJ) pass. It was my first time in California, so I mounted a Canon 20D to the passenger seat and took a photo every 5 seconds to stitch into a time lapse movie. In hindsight, I probably should have taken it every 1 second particularly during the more curvy sections of the PCH in and around Big Sur. While unfortunately much of the day was shrouded in that famous coastal fog, the scenery was still amazing and it made the drive through Big Sur that much dreamier. Some notable things I passed by... the 2010 Nautica Triathlon in Malibu, a beautiful blue Ferrari 360 Modena, a pelican up close and Splash Cafe in Pismo Beach (buttery chowder), dozens of sea otters and Phil's Fish Market in Moss Landing (great cioppino), a huge swarm of choppers/cruisers, sand kicking at an elephant seal rookery, a huge New England Patriots logo in a field at the Vandenberg Air Force Base, and finally In-N-Out near SFO (my destination... double-double animal style with fries well-done and a lemon-up... yessir). Towards the end of the drive, it became DARK on route 1 and because I needed to make it to SFO to pick up my girlfriend, I needed to detour from 1 and cut across. Maybe next time I'll be able to make it all the way up to the Golden Gate Bridge.

    Nice Vid

How many frames per sec ?????????

  • @andyscott0 Off the top of my head, it was mostly 24fps except for the Big Sur portion which I slowed to 15fps since the road made it way too crazy to follow at 24 frames.

  • TIGHT...

  • Did he just take a pee on the beach? LOL

  • Mounted the camera how? Using one of those "bendy leg tripods" and wrapping it around the legs of the headrest? Just curious.

  • Great video. I've made this same trip several times (California native) and it brought back so many memories (gotta love that windy hwy 1). A very enthusiastic 'thumbs up'.
