@TheEricwaters4 Rooting this way won't work if you are on Gingerbread. You need to go to the "How to root Samsung Epic on EI22 or EL30" videos and flash a newer ROM. This is very old.

man i feel stupid, everyone says how easy this is but Im lost. I have tried downloading the root and I cant get the one that you are doing, any help would be great,

@qbking Many thanks to you. You explained it exactly. Love the vids. very thorough with the directions. I just wish the battery life was better. I am going to have to watch the vid on how to calibrate the battery. Keep up the good work

Question for you.
Im looking into purchasing a use/refurbished epic 4g for learning everything on how to root, flash roms, etc. Is it necessary for the phone to be activated and/or have a working esn? Wouldnt wi-fi be sufficient enough for me to do what I am seeking?
Seeking your advise and experience.

@lpkepic No you can run roms if the phone isn't activated! The only thing you won't get is signal bars and 3G data! Wifi will work... you can get one with a bad esn and it'll be fine.
