This is the beginning of my attempts to create a penspin tutorial mini-series. It's something I've been doing for a little while, and while I might not be very good at it and other tutorials are better, hey I just like makin' the vids.

  • Can't do it, pinky finger hold me up. It holds the pen from spinning to my ring finger, but if I pull it down more, my ring finger follows and the pen flies off. Any tips?

  • @GlobalTruthNet I thik you need to practise independent finger movement. If you play a musical instrument, particular something like a piano or keyboard, that would help. Also try using a thicker or longer pen, that way you can reduce the work your fingers need to do to move it. Otherwise it's just practise I'm afraid.

  • Is there a way to improve speed other than to just do it over and over? Particularly a way to improve the smoothness of it would be helpful because i can get it flowing but its usually a bit choppy at points and sometimes my thumb naturally reaches in to help it along but ends up just stopping the spin :S Any advice would be appreciated. The only thing i can do at the moment is the thumb around...

  • @jluvsmetal If you hold it at the fingertips you can acheive higher speeds. I expect you are finding that the pen slows down when it reaches the end of your fingers. All you need to do is practise really slowly, but make sure it is smooth, and all the passes are the same speed. After that you should gradually be able to increase speed with practise.

    Hope that helped

  • The pen gets stuck/slowed down at the last two fingers...any ideas?or should i just keep practicing and i will get it right eventually??

    -Thanks :)

  • @DonBahaa2 the ring finger and the pinky need to be taught to move independently, just try moving them without moving any other finger, once you can do that it should feel natural.
