  • Are those the stock pickups you have in there? I swapped mine out for EMGs, but the originals weren't terrible, at least for clean. They were pretty weak on the distorted channel though. Also, are you using middle position? i remember it getting a really glassy sound out of the middle position with the stock pickups.

  • @person55554 I have the original neck pickup in there, and I replaced the bridge p-up with a Wilde (Bill Lawrence) L-500XL. This whole video was done on the neck pickup.

  • @MissMetalfreak Active pickups sound very good clean, actually. The only thing to be aware of is the fact that actives are very high output and may cause some amps to distort even on the clean channel. Usually you have to roll the volume knob on the guitar back a bit.

  • @AVman9 But can you play with clean sound with actives pickups?

  • @MissMetalfreak I'd say just go to a music store and try some guitars out. Its a matter of opinion. I personally prefer passives, but a lot of other people like actives. Its all up to what satisfies your ears.

  • @AVman9 How diffrent? If you don't think of the price, which one is better? The battery for active pickups lasts pretty long, I have been told. Cant the active pickups play clean?

  • @MissMetalfreak Active pickups use batteries to boost output, and passives do not. Actives are sorta nice because they are really powerful, but they are also expensive. They also sound different than passive pickups. I personally prefer passives for their sound as well as because they are easy to use and don't require a 9V battery to work.

  • Whats the difference between passive and active pickups? And which is better?

  • Have the original passive EMG in the neck and a Bill Lawrence L-500XL in the bridge.
