Went back a week later to the same pit with Lindsay and some more snow-melt occurred; watch as the water swells up ON my windshield. I got wet through the freedom top... it was a rush!

  • Wow! Very risky driving in water like that without a snorkel.. just a splash of water in your intake above the right headlight is enough to hyrdo-lock (destroy your engine) your JK. I would hate to see that happen to that awesome rubi you have there. I'm actually surprised it didn't happen with water up to the windshield. I've heard of people hyrdolocking by just driving through shallower stuff at high speed. Be careful! Great vid!!

  • Hey thanks for the advice and comment!

  • For future reference slow down in water...the point of it is to keep the bow of water in front of the bumper......YOU CAN HYDROLOCK! The intake is covered by the hood however water can still get in.

  • I've hit 2 foot deep water pits at 20 mph and been ok. That was stock.

  • Ya, it's all about luck here. I drove on a flooded street in my lifted XJ. The water was 3.5 feet deep. I had a truck pass me and the wave took the water up and over my hood and windshield. Had about 4 seconds of OMG my car is gonna die, but I got lucky. You don't always get that lucky. Have fun, but be careful. Hydro-locking is not covered under warranty.

  • @cwar08 Now you got the answer . They got hydrolocked cuz they drove at high speed , splashing with water everywhere . Drive it at 10-20 km/h and you'll be fine .

  • @cwar08 FGS . A drop , not even more wont destroy an engine FGS . I saw a 30 year old mercedes engine going throw water and after was just fine . If it stolls in the water , get it out by another car or man power , get the sparkplugs out , and get the head of the engine of , so u can see he pistons , and give it a key . The pistons will move up and down and spit out the water . Obvious this is if its a drop , otherwise u need an oil change

  • Whats a snorkel? that was awesome

  • Whats a snorkel?

  • I put a high-raised K&N tube and filter on my Jeep. It sits just under the hood, helped out alot. I can go into water pretty deep, but I never go fast. I don't like the water going over the fender, and I have a 4 inch lift and 1 inch body with 33's. That's pretty deep lol

  • Water in the intake

  • big balls-looks like fun! we took our jk in the swamp here in florida and it was stressful keeping the hood above water-aev snorkel soon-peace out

  • hydrolock? pansies. the intakes on the jk's have these like fin holes on the intake to let the water escape, making it less likely to get in your intake
