The famous "singing wells of Borena" have been operating for more than a hundred years. There are two levels involved in bringing the water up for the livestock to drink. The lower level of the well is more than 20 meters/65 feet below the surface. The men bring the water up to the second level before heaving bucket after bucket of water into the trough for hours on end every day during the dry season. Backbreaking would be an understatement.
This was worth seeing...only in the dry season. El Sod, Salt Lake, was not. Take a pass on this one.
