This one has been on my mind for awhile. I loved the aesthetic of these games since the first one, and the stories behind the games I also loved, with the idea of writing literally bringing worlds to life, and the consequences of that godlike power. An ideal Myst movie I think would have few characters, mainly Atrus (the author) and the unnamed modern day person who is sucked into the fantastic worlds Atrus has created by foolishly touching the last page of the Myst book. Everybody I can think of wishes Myst and it's zen-like atmosphere of wonder and beauty was a real place. In the confines of a film, life could be give to it, buildings reproduced as actual structures that live action actors could investigate, solving puzzles throughout the film and uncovering the story behind them. The film City of Ember was an obvious movie to use as inspiration for this trailer and the idea of a Myst movie since that largely involves people wandering a fascinating world alone, diving mechanisms and codes to escape.
One day I'd love to see this for real. Just to know that the clocktower, the rocket, the library had actually been built would be worth the price of admission for me!

  • "The fact that a penstroke can bring these worlds to life amazes me,"

Not very canon. Atrus knew very well that when an age is written, you are only writing a link to an existing age. He sounds as arrogant as Gehn to suggest otherwise.

  • Perhaps not cannon, but that's the very line he uses in the Exile commercial.

I think he's indicating how the wonder is still there for him. Ghenn considered bookmaking a tool, but Atrus considers it a blessing.

  • WELL DONE!!!

    That was really good

  • Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.

  • myst is one of the first games to be considered art

  • Sci Fi channel could and should do a Myst series

Season 1-3 can be in Myst Season 4-6 Riven and 7-8 would be in D'ni. Followed by a movie with the storyline of Revelations.

    It would be so epic.

  • I noticed you used some clips from City of Ember here too. Myst is truly an amazing world that is indescribable in it's aesthetic.

  • @NuclearMisfit they actually had it planned, but it fell through before it had the chance to hit the home theaters.

  • hey, one of those scene was from the movie City of Ember

  • I always liked myst, although I would get frustrated, having played it when I was just 8 years old. It was a very eerie game, and it seems to me to be what launched the classic "escape" game series online. Me, my brother and two uncles would always share information. Just a really cool game. I'd definitely see a movie had it existed.

  • Thats awesome if you do.

I always thought it would be cool to make and or see a version done.

  • good point

  • i got a technically illeagal japanese version on psp

i was sent the japan version of myst by mistake

  • actually i am looking into the possibility that i might make a myst -I or -II or something

  • That sounds good, seriously

    haha =)
