ENVIRONMENTAL ART EXHIBITION AT HARTFORD ARTSPACE GALLERY - The works presented in this videography are the efforts of the following artists:

ARTWORKS CREATED FROM USED 55-GALLON OIL DRUMS WERE EXHIBITED AT ARTSPACE GALLERY IN HARTFORD from March 5 to 13, 2009. The opening reception had over 400 visitors on Thursday, March 5th from 5PM to 9PM. It featured The Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Gina McCarthy as the keynote speaker. Commissioner McCarthy addressed the impact of oil on our ecology and Joel Gordes of the Environmental Energy Solutions talked about the energy crisis and possible solutions.

THERE WERE 40 ENVIRONMENTAL, ENERGY AND TRAVEL ARTWORKS DISPLAYED IN THE 3,500 SQUARE-FOOT ART ARTSPACE GALLERY, 555 Asylum Avenue, Hartford, CT, from March 5-13. Power Boothe, Dean of the Hartford Art School, selected pieces from the submissions by regional artists. the winners were

- First Prize to david Murphy for his "The Late great Yellow No. 2"
- Second Prize went to Michael Mindera for his "Wardrobe Steamer Trunk"
- Third Prize went to Shirley Lardis for her quilt drum "Alternatives"
- Environmental/Energy prize went to Michael Finucone for his "Circle Of Insanity"
- People's Choice Award went to Clint Deckert for his "World Over A Barrel"

AFTER THE HARTFORD EXHIBITION CLOSED 23 ARTWORKS WERE CHOSEN BY THE BRADLEY AIRPORT MARKETING STAFF FOR DISPLAY IN AN ART GALLERY IN THE AIRPORT FROM APRIL 2-JULY 31. The exhibition will also include drum art created by students from local public schools as part of a Bradley Airport Outreach Program.

  • This is really great... thank you! Just to make a correction... it is Les Lourigan, not leslie, and he has work in the New Britain Museum of Art and the Sol Lewit Collection.
