In this video I talk about my Chemex coffee maker and my Russell Hobbs kettle. I make a pot of coffee in it while talking about the appliances and then show my EDC keychain with its latest addition of the Boker Plus VOC Access Tool. It will compliment its other tools, which are held together on a Mechanics Keychain that I got at Countycomm. Items include a Nite Ize Inka Pen, a Nite Ize S-Biner (#4), a Micro Widgy Bar, a Swiss Tec Utili-Key, a Sliver Gripper tweezer, Princeton Tec Impulse LED flashlight with a clip and some small screwdrivers that I also got in countycomm. In the background is a 10 gallon tank with 7 albino African dwarf frogs, an aquatic species, and a pletko fish, and in the other tank I have a long lived Betta fish. The frogs are extraordinarily long lived as well. Ive never had one die on me in 8 years.

  • i have been in the hunt for the best cup of coffee i can make, and have been curious about the Chemex, but 1 thing i know for sure is you have to use better coffee, and water temp is very important between 196-204F, less and you don't get full extraction, more you burn the coffee.

  • @auradud3 I was kind of surprised at how good this coffee tasted actually. I didnt have my usual Jamaican Blue Mountain and I got this one on sale a few weeks ago and have to admit that it is really nice tasting, and I am a bit of a coffee snob!

  • thought about getting an inka is it worth it? and how do you like it?

  • The joy of YouTube... I've just spent 12 minutes in the company of a nice guy making a cup of coffee :)

I know what you mean by "lab glassware" - I'm a chem teacher and it wouldn't look out of place at work. I prefer to use a small "over the cup" filter, simply for convenience. It has a permanent (gold) filter so I could argue it is better for the environment (although I doubt that when you take into account gold mining!)

  • thanks for sharing the coffee maker too, and your pets! :)

  • @traderjoes I simply use a Nespresso machine. Lazy man coffee making :) but the coffee's actually pretty good too, imho. I can make better coffee than Starbucks here with that. Having said that, Starfucks coffee is no big deal lol

  • @traderjoes coffee snob here too, i just might try that chemex i use a technivorm mocha master, very very similar to the chemex, good vid
