Someone was asking about dedicated raid groups for specific application performance today. So I had to impromtuly sell the benefits of thin pools compared to raid groups on the usual model arrays to the application guy. Thin provisioning can determined disk per pool or do you use every disk in the array in a few generic pools and let the array software sort it out for better performance ?
