NEW BERLIN, Wis. -- Dale Destache speaks during the New Berlin School Board's public comment portion of its meeting Monday, Aug. 29, 2011.

In a setting that looked more like a professional wrestling match, both sides of the new collective bargaining law were at the New Berlin School Board meeting to protest and support policies in a new employee handbook approved unanimously Monday.

Wisconsin Education Association Council, New Berlin Education Association members and other district staff were upset about reductions in sick days, early retirement benefits, and disability benefits in the handbook. Teachers are opposed to increases in working hours and not being able to grieve suspensions, written reprimands and negative performance evaluations.

  • You know, I've struggled to understand how people can be so hateful toward other people who dedicate their lives to helping children. But, as one of my hs students said one time, "Haters wanna hate." I never liked or really understood that saying until now. These people are haters. They live for hating others . . . heck they probably hate themselves to a large extent. They want someone or something to hate. If it wasn't the teachers, they would find something else. Basically haters wanna hate.

  • "A working class hero is something to be." BD

And this guy's a hero, make no mistake about it. He's every bit as much a real hero as walker, scott, snyder, kasich, the coch's, pete peterson and the rest are real villains.

and if they keep pushing, well... let's just say things will get pretty interesting.

  • Hark the trumpet of ignorance, "I work all summer"

It is becoming clear that conservative 'values' must be expanded to include the vigorous pursuit of ignorance and the willingness to vote against their own best interest's.

It is also becoming clear that the propagation of this ferocious ignorance is in the best interest of wealthy plutocrat's like the Koch brother's and their lackey governor. Walker is one of a breed of weak and mediocre individuals who will lapdog for power. Sad.
