How is this song not more famous?! An all-time favorite....

What an intelligent theme for a song. Admirable.

this song is fucking GENIUS

This is beautiful, incredibly so. It's disturbing, gross and slightly melancholic roots just...somehow ADD instead of detracting. The simple way she gets her message across, yet exquisitely complicated, the way she captures the human essence...*sigh* I love Regina Spektor

@BizarreJellyChat While gross, there is something breathtakingly beautiful about dying that way. Sexual gratification, especially without a partner, is such a vulnerable state of mind. It reminds me of how the French word for orgasm is "la petite-mort" or literally "the little death". The hint at sexuality makes this so much more unique and devastating.

why dont people watch her that much because i mean only 58,207 people watched this and probably the majority of them are most likly people who come back and watch it 5 times a day.

The idea behind the song is an old urban legend passed between the single male community: it's told that if you hold your breath underwater while you masturbate, your orgasm will be twice as good. Pretty much the same concept behind auto-erotic asphyxiation. That's why there's laughter about the lake, and why it's like porridge. Genius dies. The "genius next door" being what dudes called the guy that figured it out.
Incidentally, he goes too far and drowns in the middle of the lake. Kinda gross
the beauty of the piano + regina's voice= angelic melody?
