Apple has posted a video demonstrating the iPhone accessibility features for those with disabilities.

You're missing the point. Assuming both of you can see, this feature isn't meant for you. If you can see it, you don't need voiceover. It's meant for blind people. Apple has done the impossible and made a touch screen interface accessible to the blind, and it seems they've done it well. I applaud apple's approach to universal access.

Voiceover isn't actually just for blind people. If you have Dyslexia (for example) then you may also use it to speak out a word you don't understand.
