Here Is Love - Sorry Her Lot

Gilbert and Sullivan's raucous operatic tale is captured in all its fun and glory in this production, recorded live at Central Park's Delacorte Theater. Kevin Kline sparkles as the swashbuckling and libidinous Pirate King while Linda Ronstadt makes her theatrical debut as the lovely and virginal Mabel. When Mabel and Frederic, a young pirate bound to serve the Pirate King, fall in love, complications arise and high spirited antics ensue. The incomparable cast offers the best in this boisterous romp.

Despite some of the technical shortcomings of the DVD I found it more rewarding than the 1983 movie. I would thoroughly recommend adding a copy of this DVD to your library.

This is the first time I've heard "Sorry Her Lot," and it sounds like a really nice song. I've heard other songs from HMS Pinafore - the ones that are on "The Very Model of a G&S Anthology" CD. All Gilbert and Sullivan songs are wonderful.

These were her first singing lessons that's why the diction in the high notes is fuzzy.Pretty good transition to chest voice though.

"It Really Doesn't Matter" is actually listed as "My Eyes are Fully Open" in the script. But I see why people would call it "It Really Doesn't Matter", because whenever I call it "My Eyes Are Fully Open" people don't have any idea what I'm talking about.
