I came across a fishing chest bag and converted it to a camera mount. It seems that I'm doing more & more stitching these days.

  • Rob, how did the chest mount ever work out (sorry if I didn't recognize any vids using it)? I bought a replacement for my old camera for riding vids but it's not as small as your Kodak so won't fit in my helmet. I've tried the new cam in various places on the bike and am not happy with the results (massive earthquake effect) so looked at the thrift store for something like what you show here, but no luck yet. Just wondered if you thought your results were worth continuing the search. :)

  • @upway2l8again The chest mount is difficult to use in motorcycle videos. I mostly used the chestmount videos for fixing / repairing things where I needed both my hands free, but I didn't want to be wearing a helmet. Right now, I have a head mounted camera. I used a strap around my head, and a camera pouch to hold the camera. Take a look at the video entitled Modified GPS Case Camera Mount 090713. That's what I've been using as a substitute for the helmet.

  • @upway2l8again Another thing you may want to try is to tape the camera to the outside of your helmet, just to see if it's worth the trouble. After all, how many videos do you plan to make? If it's just a quick fix, then maybe something temporary might do the job for you.

  • @Spencerian Thanks for the quick responses; I'll give this a try, goofy as it'll look (pink camera DXG 567, 2.5 x 4 x .5 inches, will need to be on front of helmet, lol). I *wish* the modified GPS case would work, but my mirrors are oriented wrong. Re: how many vids - I usually ride tailgunner, people like to watch themselves ride, I'm happy to oblige. :) Thanks again.

  • Rob,

Pretty darn creative, I must say..I might have to get one of those..I love watching your fun videos, but we really gotta get you out of the house.. Lol

  • That blanket is way too old.

Keep it forever, man. I'm keeping mines forever. After 15 years so far, it's hella soft.

IMO, helmet mount is cooler in case your buddies are doing tricks you can look at them-- but with the chest mount, you'd have to shift your whole body. Guess it's good to have both-- so you can use the chest mount when you're just riding by yourself. That helmet mount makes riding a little distracting, anyways.

  • wow thats very creative! big ups ta u rob!

  • Ahhhh you got many talents! Good work !!!

  • Hey Rob,

Great idea on the chest bag, I do wonder, however, if the camera lens is safe from damage like that. (riding speed + bugs, and whatnot)

Perhaps a transparent plexy (or smth) piece to put infront of the camera? like a cd case cover hm...
