Guayabitos...Dead whale washes up on shore December 2008

While staying in Guayibitos, Mexico a dead whale washed up on shore. The army had to come stand guard to ensure everyone stayed away from workmen who were trying to bury the whale under the sand. Wonder if people visiting now realize a whale is buried under where they are sun tanning.

You had the same thoughts as myself about the smell. When I asked, I was told that the whale had washed up already once and they tried to take it back out into the waters and by morning it had floated back onto the beach. I was told that the whale had gotten caught in the fishing lines out in the water and that is what caused the problem.
