Police shoot man dead in Guam- Pacific News Center

Standoff at the Guam Veterans Cemetery in Piti Monday afternoon Octcber 1, 2007 ended in the death of Reynaldo (Rey) Garcia. Officers from the Agat precinct fired between eight to 10 shots at Garcia. Officers allege Gracia had what "appeared to be a handgun" and made several "gestures towards the officers."
Garcia's relatives were also at the scene when the incident took place. Several of them were heard saying "the police killed my brother." Prior to the shooting, family members and Garcia were at a family memorial service for one of Garcia's brothers who died last week.
Garcia appeared "distraught" when he left the memorial service. Garcia then went to the cemetery to visit the grave of another brother, Delfin. Garcia's nephew received a phone call from Rey Garcia, who said "the police were gonna shoot him."
Family members denied that Garcia had a hand gun with him.Investigation is ongoing, according to Acting Chief of Police Paul Suba and GPD legal counsel Jim Mitchell.
