The fan is from an old rc airplane running on 4 D-Cell batteries. It lasted well over an hour. I used lump charcoal for the melt but I warmed it up with dry kindling...Aluminum melts around 1250f and charcoal tops out around 1350f I think. It worked- Now for a real sand casting!
