environment will be negatively affected. the best way to curb racism in america is to make it socially unacceptable to be racist, and that is the way the social trend seems to be going, and would be going even if no AA/civil rights legislation had passed. we forget sometimes that on social issues, government is largely responding to trends they see in american society and putting the governments' stamp on that trend, which effectively diminishes individual liberty.

the student representing the young democrats shoots himself in the foot from the get-go. all he's done was prove that affirmative action has been largely ineffective. it's naive to think that making a law like AA will actually change how people view race relations. if anything, it will make employers more sour because they HAD to hire someone they didn't want to hire. we can argue about the merit/morality of that employers' vision but in the end the true problem is that that workplace's
