so i just got back from my skating thing a few hours ago and we came in third!!! yay!! my mom said we should have came in second though.... anyways here's part one:
Devon's P.O.V.
"Hey guys," I said as I walked to where everyone was sitting and sat next to Joe.
"Are you okay?" they all asked.
"I think I'll be okay. Oh and Nick I wanted to thank you," I said, you could still tell I was upset from my voice.
"Why?" Nick asked confused.
"For writing A Little Bit Longer," I explained. "I felt like it was written just for me and it helped."
"I'm glad I could help," Nick said.
"I just wish I was there. I don't like being here while all this is going on," I said. I felt really bad that I wasn't there.
"You can always go home for as long as you need to and join us when youre ready," Kevin told me.
"I know, but my dad told me to stay here," I said.
"Well, you could record a video to send to him," Joe suggested.
"That's a great idea! Thanks Joe," I said and got out my camera.
"Ready?" Joe asked holding the camera and I nodded as he turned it on.
"Hey Papa, it's Devon. I wanted to say hi and tell you that I'm thinking of you and Im sorry I can't be there, but I'm in Europe right now with the Jonas Brothers. I really wish I could be there. Everyone else wanted to say hi too, this is Nick," I said and Joe turned the camera to Nick.
"Hi, hope everything goes well," Nick said.
"And this is Kevin," I said.
"Hi, good luck," Kevin said,
"And you've met Sam and Sara," I said.
"Hey, we'll see you when we get back," Sam and Sara said.
"And this is my boyfriend Joe," I said.
"Hi, hope you feel better and I hope to meet you when we get back, Devon's told me some great things about you," Joe said.
"Anyway I hope you feel better and I miss you. I wish I could be there, but I'll see you when I get back. I love you. See you soon!" I said. Joe shut off the camera and I went to my computer to e-mail it to my dad so that he could show it to my grandfather.
The concert that night was amazing as usual. We all watched from backstage as the guys performed. Then it was time for A Little Bit Longer and Nick's speech.
"So this next song is a song thats really close to my heart and it means a lot to me," Nick started. "Sometimes life throws you an unexpected curveball. That's what happened when I was diagnosed with diabetes, but it hasn't slowed me down. I know tonight there are some people out there who just need some hope, who just need a friend. Tonight I would like to dedicate this song to a very good friend of mine. She got some bad news from her dad today and she was upset she couldn't be there with her family. She told me that she listened to this song and she felt that it was written for her and what she was going through and that it helped. I just want to remind her that we are all here for her whenever she needs a friend or hope. Tonight this song is for you," Nick finished looking over at me and he gave me a smile. I smiled weakly back, I could already feel the tears coming.
As soon as Nick started playing I started crying, I couldn't help it. The next few days I tried to enjoy where we were, but it was hard. I felt like I should be somewhere else. Every night at the concert whenever they would play A Little Bit Longer I would start to cry. It was the day of my grandfather's surgery and I was watching my phone waiting for my dad to call. Finally my phone rang.
"Hey," my dad said when I answered. "He just went into surgery, sorry I couldn't get you to talk to him, but he watched the video and he really liked it."
"Okay," I said. I was a little upset that I didn't get to talk to my grandfather, but I didn't know what I would've said and I probably would've started crying and I didn't want that to happen.
"I'll call you in a few hours when we get an update," my dad said.
I sat with Joe for the next few hours just waiting for my phone to ring again. It was stressful not being able to do anything but wait. After what seemed like forever my phone rang again.
"He's still in surgery. They say they're going to do some more stuff than they planned. It could be a good thing or a bad thing, either they think he can handle it or they found more damage than they thought," my dad said. Initially they didn't want to keep him under anaesthesia too long because of his age. "I'll call you when he gets out."
It was another few hours before my dad called again and this time he had good news.
"He's out of surgery and everything went well. He just woke up and he seems fine, I think he's hungry," my dad told me.
"Thats great!" I said. "Tell him I said hi," I said hanging up. I turned to Joe and gave him a big hug relieved that everything was over and everything was fine.
"I told you everything would work out," Joe told me. I was so happy right now and now I could spend the rest of the tour without worrying about my grandfather.

delaware came in first and this team from mass came in second (which fell twice and still beat us) and i was just looking at the results and we got a 1 pt deduction that i have no idea why we got b/c no one fell...
