Reverse acceleration vector to decelerate or to retard (slow down). To retard is the purpose of reverse thrust unless you want to taxi backwards, which is not recommended. In the realm of physics (including aerodynamics) this is the significance of retard.

Ok so u were either going over some mounts terrain or u just kept going up and Down cuz the GPWS said 400 three times! And after the second one it said "hundred above" which I thought it only said when ur right above 100 ft. So what's up with ur GPWS???
