A video about planes and people coming and going from Camarillo KCMA and the people and events prior to the crash of the P-51 that killed John McKittrik.

I want to add -- For anyone interested in the Constellation in this video, it flew today - January 14, 2012. I didn't go to the airport to see if it came back to Camarillo, it may have been flown to its new home, which I believe is The Planes of Fame Museum at Chino airport. Wherever it was headed it was a magnificent sight and sound. Congratulations to the team of people who worked so hard to get this plane back in the air. It is truly an amazing sight.

  • I belong to the Planes Of Fame museum as a paying member. Ill make a point to go look for this plane. A lot of folks might not know that the Connie was the last plane that Orville Wright was given a flight to before he passed. My ex-boss Howard Hughes offered the flight.

  • @AV8R That's interesting. I didn't know that. There used to be two Connie's at Camarillo I got to fly the other one, these planes are very nimble and surprisingly fast. Its truly amazing how far flight has come since the Wright Bros..

  • HOLY COW! I remember the Executive Sweet when she was all polished! I first saw her here in Bellingham, Wa on a fueling stop in 1974!

  • @Koaslice191 She's still fairly polished, there's a pretty good crew taking care of it.

  • the ec-121 will fly again, just waiting for the faa to stop being lame

  • @erad5 I think they've been waiting for the FAA to stop being lame for about ten years. Its amazing what an unelected bureaucrat can screw up, isn't it?

  • You can like this video for two reasons: either because you love airplanes or because you love to see a really well made video on youtube for a change.

It's well composed, beautifully lit, you can see there was a lot of thought put in to it and even the soundtrack is excellent!

I think Chris Martin himself would be proud to have his song linked to this video!

    Brilliant! 10 out of 10!

  • makes me so sad to see all these planes once flying in the sky and now grounded...

see all

  • Very nice video & great choice of music to go with it.

  • @Av8Chuck Is the camo'd c-47/dc-3 an ex-gunship? couldnt help but notice the oversized/sealed windows over the trailing edge of wing...

  • Seeing these rusted airplanes made me cry :(

  • the plane at 1:48 IS A c47 DAKOTA from ww2 it carried paratroopers

  • @nagmashdriver --- the camo paint scheme and the two large cutouts make me wonder if this C-47 isn't possibly a former "Spooky", a C-47 gunship. If so, it would be even more of a treasure to make sure gets preserved.

  • good video. wish a lot of those planes were still flying.. such as the gooney bird I saw

  • @Koaslice191 I remember the exec, sweet a friends dad i grew up with used to fly it in the early 70's,last time i saw it was at the mira mar air show here in so cal. beatiful plane!
