I'm playing donna lee on two different jazz guitars. The first is an Epiphone Broadway elitist with a Lollar "low wind" Imperial neck humbucker and the second is a recently acquired Ibanez model 2471nt. I'm thinking the Ibanez will probably need a recrowning of the frets to sound its best. The pickup is a Bartolini floating humbucker. I'm thinking of replacing thisone witha KA Johnny Smith floater.
Which one sounds better?

  • Really love this performance, you've inspired mr;)

  • thank you sir :)

  • Hi, great playing and sound. Congratulations. I was thinking on buying a Lollar Lo Wind Imperial for the neck position of my Heritage Golden Eagle. Are you happy with the sound for jazz or is it a bit trebly? Are you using flats or rounds on this vid? Regards

  • @Grooveitman

    hey

I'm pretty much always happy with the sound so the lollar does a nice job. It has more of an acoustic quality to it than a regular humbucker. However I'm thinking of switching to p90s. Strings are d'addario chromes

  • @Grooveitman

The lollar low wind is very nice and not overly trebly but I may at some point try p90s. Strings are d'addario chromes.

  • Is the head in tab or did you transcribe it

  • you'll find it in real book #1

  • The Ibanez has a nice fat sound. Did you end up replacing with the KA Johnny Smith? I'm thinking of buying the Jason Lollar Johnny Smith or the KA Johnny Smith of the Floating Paf.

  • WTF.... I only say this because you are an amazing player but you look like you aren't even enjoying yourself (even though I know you are)... You should get into it a little more if you don't mind me saying... your producing such beautiful music but look so unhappy..

  • Bravissimo!!!!!
