What was life like after the final episode of Seinfeld aired on May 14, 1998? This is footage from WVIT's 11pm newscast interviewing people at a local diner, and also talks to some celebrating at Tom's restaurant in New York, as well as responding to protesters over the flag burning episode.

  • rubbish quality

  • Sorry this was taken off an old VHS tape that I don't have anymore. I have a better version of just the report from New York which I can upload.

  • Yes, and WVIT is still owned by NBC Universal.

  • Wow!!! I had no idea Seinfeld's cultural impact at the time was that huge.

  • @ry4n0007: What do you expect? Not everyone had a convenient way to record video from their tv eleven years ago! And the ones that did mostly relied on magnetic tape. Which doesn't age too well.

  • Did'nt NBC own WVIT around the time this newscast aired? I think it was around '97 or '98 that NBC bought the station.
