AN APPEAL TO NET SURFERS

Hi friends ! This film gives me the chance of telling you I am lucky enough to be still alive on this 24th of July 2010, but it also urges to me to say that many things have changed since new technologies have invaded our lives in such a way !
Nowadays, of course, we enjoy more comfort but we are much more alone than we were before! We all live in artificial way and even our emotions are programmed from the outside.
We are just very happy when ten million people in the world watch our videos on YouTube and subscribe to our channels, but it is also true that we can't talk with our neighbour any more !!
Interactive media deceive and betray us by promising us new friendships, love stories and easy success, while, on the contrary, they just make us slaves of our computers.
Being hypnotized by these technological instruments we have forgotten that true life is not in our small rooms but outside, among real people and among the wonders of Nature.
If we don't reawaken in time, it might happen that it will be too late when we realize we could have lived and acted in a different way and we will probably die without realising we have been living !
Sometimes sleeping can be very pleasant and convenient for people, but I hope we are all of one mind that the splendour of consciousness is to be always preferred to the torpor of intelligence !

Salve amici ! Questo film mi dà l'opportunità di dirvi che per fortuna sono ancora vivo in questo 24 Luglio 2010, ma mi spinge anche a dire che molte cose sono cambiate da quando le nuove tecnologie hanno fortemente invaso la nostra vita.
Certo, oggi abbiamo molte comodità, ma siamo anche molto più soli rispetto al passato. Viviamo tutti in modo artificiale e perfino le nostre emozioni sono programmate dall'esterno.
Siamo felicissimi quando dieci milioni di persone nel mondo guardano un nostro video su YouTube e si iscrivono al nostro canale, ma è anche vero che non riusciamo più a parlare col nostro vicino !
I media interattivi ci illudono e ci tradiscono, promettendoci nuove amicizie, incontri amorosi e facile successo, mentre invece ci rendono solo schiavi dei nostri computers. Ipnotizzati da questi strumenti tecnologici, abbiamo dimenticato che la vera vita non è nella nostra stanzetta, ma fuori, tra le persone reali e tra le meraviglie della Natura.
Se non ci svegliamo in tempo, potrebbe essere troppo tardi quando ci accorgeremo che avremmo potuto vivere e agire in un modo diverso, e forse moriremo senza accorgerci che siamo stati vivi !
A volte il sonno può essere molto piacevole e addirittura conveniente, ma io spero che siamo tutti d'accordo che al torpore dell'intelligenza si debba sempre preferire lo splendore della coscienza.

Thank you for this wise and eloquent commentary. You are right in everything you say. I also woryy about my own over-dependence on this seemingly magical technology. Your comments reminded me of a short story by E.M. Forster titled "The Machine Stops", a prophetic warning, I believe.

My other preocupation is our reflexive need to seek technological solutions to our social problems.
