Roller Derby Queen

Lyrics/Music: Jim Croce

Gonna tell you a story that you won't believe
But I fell in love last Friday evenin'
With the girl I saw on a bar room TV screen

Well I was just gettin' ready to get my hat
When she caught my eye and I put it back
And I ordered myself a couple o' more shots 'n' beers

The night that I fell in love with a Roller Derby queen
Round and round, oh round and round
The meanest hunk o woman
That anybody ever seen
Down in the arena

She were five foot six by two fifteen
A bleached-blonde mama
With a streak of mean
She knew how to knuckle
And she knew how to scuffle and fight

And the Roller Derby program said
That she was built like a fridgerator with a head
Her fans call her 'Tuffy'
But all her buddies called her 'Spike'

The night that I fell in love with a Roller Derby queen
Round and round, oh round and round
The meanest hunk o' woman
That anybody ever seen
Down in the arena, uh, huh

Round and round, go round and round
Round and round, go round and round
Round and round

Well I could not help it but to fall in love
With this heavy-duty woman I been speakin' of
Things looked kind of bad
Until the day she skated into my life

Well she might be nasty, she might be fat
But I never met a person who could tell her that
She's my bleach blonde bomber
My heavy handed hackensack mama

The night that I fell in love with a Roller Derby queen
Round and round, oh round and round
The meanest hunk o' woman
That anybody ever seen
Down in the arena, uh, huh

Another incredible song. He was my male role model from age 8 until he died. Devastated me.

Can someone PLEASE do a demo of how to play the electric guitar solo that is on the studio version? I want to learn to play it so bad, but I can't find tabs or a demo, anywhere. And I'm not good enough to figure it out on my own. Thank you!

Maybe it comes down to you not understanding the context of my original comment.

The original poster said, "I bet if Eminem or Lil Wayne had to work a real job a couple years, they'd be a bit more humble." Marshall did work real jobs and references the people that he met and the jobs that he did often in his music and interviews. His last 2 albums didn't sell well because of this introspection, his fan base expected more angry young man form a grown one.

Yea, I'm comparing their writing styles, character creations and storytelling ability. Mathers has a fantastic ability to tell a story about a person and make you feel as though you know the person and witnessed the event, this was Croce's great talent, as well.

Don't dismiss the artist simply because you don''t care for the genre, my friend.
