The extreme irony? McClellan, using the concocted White House talking point, claims that Clarke is just out to sell some books.

Now, years later, Clarke very generously speaks of "forgiveness" of McClellan -- as McClellan makes the rounds with HIS book.

CLARKE speaks the essential truth re the responsibility of America to face these criminal acts & the criminal players who schemed to catapult a bogus war upon the world:

CLARKE on Scott McClellan: This guy at least came forward and asked for forgiveness.

-- my comment: But I think such people ALSO need to pay a price, to right some wrongs that they freely & willfully participated in. McClellan is no little lamb in this case. Nor is Colin Powell. They KNEW what they were doing was deceitful & morally wrong, but they craved their high-profile jobs. POWELL has NOT asked for forgiveness.

* To me, Colin Powell's NEVER come clean -- yet HAS been, to some degree, let back into polite society. I say NO. He willfully SOLD the U.N. the bogus evidence that he knew to be false. He was the last firewall, the last levee. There is no valor in "Loyalty to my Boss, The President". In that moment, when Colin Powell chose Bush over Americans -- & pulled the trigger selling the lies, he became a war criminal. Guilty.

I essentially agree with you concerning Powell, not sure I would go as far as " war criminal" but, I have always been troubled that Powell was not more indignant about his reputation and credibility being forever tarnished. Maybe his eyes WERE wide open during this thing after all!

The real-time reporting back then, even WITH a complicit media, had eyewitness reports that when he was presented the so-called evidence, and he reviewed it, he slammed the stack of papers on the table angrily shouting "This is bull sh*t!". That was his REAL sentiment. Then he went & played his Good Soldier role. No. Sorry, Watch Tenet's 60 Minutes piece as well, and watch Tenet's eyes when Powell makes his presentation. They were out to SELL the war to the UN, or it was a NO-GO. He's a sellout.
