Well, we didn't make it but that's the way life goes sometimes. What a heartbreaker this song was, then and now. So many years. The final analysis? What is life without love?

@Artie813 ABSOLUTELY!!! Singers like this are no longer made my friend, and music like this as well. For singers? It is because of two reasons, Mariah Carey ruined real singers. She made voice gymnastics which don't impress people more important than actual singing. And rap crap music which is not singing at all, but uncivilized noise making.
Now for music? 70's music styles which bring goodness, caring, and happiness are no longer made for just that reason. Government/hollywood say no

@HHH100 Really? What do trends that came out in 1990 have to do with the demise of this woman's style of music, which happened in the early-1980's? I think Madonna had a lot more to do with singers like this not being around anymore; dressing like a slut became more important than being able to sing. That lead us to Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson and so on....

I remember listening to Melissa is the 70's as a young boy. I even brought this 45 into school for a music class project. Fabulous, does it get any better then this? nope, this is some good stuff. Singers of this caliber are few and far between these days. I am 47 now and still love this song, hearing for over 35 years I never seem to get bored, absolutely timeless.

@Almostnotkwite How sad, are you saying the one you loved was not the one who stayed at your side? My wife and I, our life is crumbling around us. It is bringing us closer together, we are making the hard decisions and making great changes to our life. We will make it and we will make it together. We are loosing everything and starting over, but we have each other. There is nothing that can not be overcome. Our best to you,
Rick and Karen
