@westend104 I would like to try planting them in a large 2 foot long container, but how deep should the container be? What is your opinion in container planting with the Tree peony?

Should I clip off the flowers after the petals have fallen off?

@westend104 Thankyou! Good luck :)

@westend104 Wow, thank you for the very friendly and informative answer. Ive just purchased a white Chinese tree peony, (sorry dont know the name ) it has buds right now and I cant wait! i suppose it will be wisest for me to wait until next spring for me to make my actual transplant because of the flowers, so I will just put it in the larger pot and surround the current pot with dirt till then.
the main question I had was if they like the soil acidic or base but i have all purpose soil for now
Hi, Thankyou for the information !! I have three tree peonies two chinese ones and one Japanese. Do they both have similar care? also One of the chinese tree peonies is potted and has already bloomed, if I want to transplant it, would this be a good time to do so? Thankyou :)

@Mansio1 I recommend you go to TreePeony dotcom, click on Learn at the top navigation bar, then click on the Tree Peony Care Instructions and Transplanting Peonies articles for more details. They recommend fertilizing with a fish emulsion, which is fine, and they call for optimum soil. I've found that's fine, but the sunlight requirements are most important and avoiding watering and automatic sprinkler systems. Good luck!

@Mansio1 I'm going to try transplanting two tree peonies this weekend (mid-April, weather in the 60s) at our house in rural Pennsylvania. Should be alright as the plants are just starting to leaf. Will use fish emulsion to help boost the transplanted stock. Have fun! --Jay

what kind of soil please?

@poosaypirate Thanks for watching! Tree peonies are hardy, hardy, hardy and grow in most any kind of soil. They flourish in rich black topsoil, but the ones shown in this video are in very poor clay-rich and non-porous soil. They do NOT like fertilizing at all and can practically be ignored and they thrive. Hope you're having a wonderful spring, and happy gardening!
