(Update Dec 22, 2009: This record was beaten by youtube user "thelinearpractiseday" with a score of 5,415! I will post a video should I ever beat it to reclaim the world record!)
Raising the bar significantly on the 5 minute double bass world speed record. The previous record was set by Mike Mallais at a WFD event with a score of 4,595. I am playing heel-toe single strokes, and single strokes are a requirement for this event. It must be clarified that this falls under the "freestyle" category of single strokes which is not an event that is officiated by WFD. Freestyle being defined as any technique that you prefer so long as it is true single strokes with a continuous alternating pattern of RLRLRLRL between beats of the feet.
However, Mike Mallais should still be recognized as having the fastest "downstroke only" record for this event as it has not been beaten while being restricted to that technique.
This is similar to Olympic swimming where competitors set speed records for specific types of swimming, though freestyle means anything goes, and encompasses them all.
The reason why the counter begins with a delay is because I am holding a remote reset button and releasing it after my beats became clean. A lot of the beats are uneven but remember this is cramming as many as possible into 5 minutes, the purpose is not to sound good or musical. Please let me know if you are aware of any proof that someone else has achieved a higher score in this event because I do not want to claim a world record falsely.
New World Record set for this event May 6th, 2009. See the video for the final score.
My Personal Records
1 second, 1 foot = 13
1 minute, 1 foot = 665, with 628 on video
1 minute, 2 feet = 1,130
5 minutes, 2 feet = watch video
15 minutes = not yet attempted
I do not use double stroke techniques and therefore will not be setting any records with double strokes.
I tested the settings of the drumometer just before this run and found that there were no double counts. (A situation in which one stroke might be counted as two when the drum is not muted enough.) My pretest showed that it was counting fully accurate, if not leaving out approximately one beat per 15 seconds. So the final score is 100% guaranteed to be at least as much as shown on the counter.
If anyone still doubts the validity of this performance you are welcome to come to my house and see for yourself. Or meet me at the public forum of your choice.
U know speed is great 4 showin off & stuff, but how could u make a song outta that? Could u even play that fast while playin with a band? I'm not tryin 2 bash ur record cuz I can't do that, but if u can play that fast with a band then please let me know so I'll shut up. Lol

@MrMetaldrummer777 This is pushing it as hard as i can so its sloppy and uneven. But the point was to get the maximum number of beats in. If I was playing in a band I would slow down a little bit so im not maxing out and would be able to play evenly. A good thing about these exercises is that you play faster than you ever would in a song, so that when you play a little bit slower for a song, its a lot easier and you wont mess up when you're under pressure to perform. practice harder than u play

Yeah its faster than what George plays, but I dont think George has ever claimed to be the fastest,he has enough speed and power for the music he plays and I`m sure he can get even faster if he wants to,but in death metal drumming George is still unmatched

@Thomasgipsy George doesnt claim to be the fastest, but he bashes drummers that are faster than him and says they arent drumming just because they use a lighter stroke to get more speed out of it. Plus, Im not the one that brings it up someone else always compares me to him
