  • ssc uses 304 ss watch his vid on what's it made of. the brown muck will slowly start to decrease as your plates get "conditioned". this process takes time so be patient. Every time you sand the plates, you lose some conditioning so don't do dat no mo. a little heat is desirable. it can give you better amperage. but too much is never good.

  • got it i thought it would be better to sand them down because i used so many different electrolites in my mix i just wanted to start fresh i had alot of gunk in my cell

  • thats the result of overvoltage, anything more than 2.25 volts per space, with passivation you may be able to get it up to 2.5v per space, but I wouldn't do it all that often

  • ssc told me 3volts was the max your sayin 2.5 so anything over 2.5 will create heat (STEAM) i was thinking i would be ok up to 2.75 but your sayin 2.25 and from there increase my amps for production

  • ssc uses 316L ss which can take a bit more voltage before the leaching starts. Personally I would use 2.5v max for short durations, and 2.0v-2.25v for normal use. If 2.25v doesn't produce enough gas for ya, increase e-lyte or increase plate surface area. Hope that helps.

  • Got it, going for 57 plates!

  • 316L SS plates + distilled water + lye seems to work for most people.

  • t 304 Stainless steel is best for a generator yes..also distilled water and 20% drinking mineral water (pellagrino brand)can be used...also you can use clr (calcium, rust, lime) remover to clean your plates. stuff used to clean humidifiers works...flush system once a week would help too.

  • thanks i didn't know that everytime i have sanded in the past i used no protection now i'm gonna keep that in mind for next time do you know where i can find an professional built flash back arrestor that will handle something under a pound pressure

  • One caution, when sanding stainless steel use a face mask while sanding. If you inhale the SS it stays in your lungs (same with aluminum) and doesn't desolve may cause problems in the future - keep healthy... Keep up the good work.

  • ok i understand im going to do some math so this dont happen again it was a pain in the ass to get all that stuff off my plates it took like an hour and a half to get it all off all my plates so i want 2.5 to be my max volt per plate gap
