This is the short version of the 100 year old history of my Union SIPTU, but it is also the history of our Trade Union Movement in Ireland. While the history of our movement dates back at least to the Black Death it is only in the last 100 years that we have been sucessful in securing real gains for workers.

The forces of capitialism are attempting to win back the rights we have gained. This video is a poor attempt to say thanks to they that went before us and to try and awaken the sleeping giants of our future Trade Union movement

  • brilliant

  • Thank u

  • I hope you like this which is my first attempt at putting something on you tube, I was inspired by my one of my wonderful daughters who taught me everything i needed to know to make this attempt about my Union SIPTU.

I hope you enjoy my simple message to all workers which is join a trade union and become active in it, because we will inherit the future we shape for ourselves by either action or inaction.

Remember we are stronger together and thank you.

  • In todays Ireland where most are money driven and they continue to elect right wing capitalist governments it's nice to remind everyone the major part Connolly and Larkin played in improving the rights of the working classes.

  • Great video! Inspiring! I'm an elected rep. for NASUWT and your video reminds me what i'm fighting for!!!

  • Magnificent!

Beautiful to see that the workers are strong elsewhere than Scandinavia!

United we stand, divided we fall!

  • All workers should be in a trade Union, this video should be shown to all children at school before they enter the world at work.

  • This is true, if only we had the skills of larkin we could change this little state for the better.

  • I have to agree, if we workers stuck togeter and spoke through our unions, the bosses would shake in their shoes.

  • Hey well done, this is also my Union and I am also Union and Proud, I can never understand why any worker would leave themselves without a strong voice with the boss.

Hope your daugher inspires you to do another one.

  • Wow!! This is such a great video!! well done..it is nice to see someone giving the irish people information on their rights!! Im going to join siptu tomorrow!Thanks..!
