Chris Anderson plays along to Radiohead's "15 Step" from the album "In Rainbows".

This tune is in 5/4, and is loads of fun to play :)

Gear - Sonor S-Class Pro in Translucent Aqua Green, Zildjian K/K Custom/A Custom cymbals (Wuhan china and custom chimes). Remo Coated Ambassadors/Emperors. Sonor/Pearl hardware and pedals.

Recorded on my PC, using a single condenser mic, Adobe Audition, and Waves SSL4000 plugins. I've been playing drums since November 2006.

  • i realise that your a very good player, but all that technical stuff would ruin Radioheads songs. Phil Selway is the perfect drummer for Radiohead

  • I know, I'd never want to take Phil's place either!! Just a fun song to play to, and a great context to come up with new ideas within :) cheers, and thanks for the compliment!

  • also, how are you mounting those two accent cymbals of yours? sorry to bother you again xD

  • no problem! I'm just using plain ol' Gibraltar add-on cymbal arms, with Pearl extension clamps. Nowadays, everything's attached to my ICON rack, using those nifty square clamps.

  • too overplayed

  • @MCshlthead it would obviously interupt the vocals. there's to much going on. however, for a DRUM cover this is 200% perfect

  • @needlearmor

oh sorry, i left out an important details i guess. the bottom number does refer to how many beats each note will get so 4=quater, 8=eighth and 2=half and so on. so when you come across something like 7/4, basically you can say it out as "alright, this time signature has 7 quarter notes". hope that helped.

  • @Moiez101 this bugs me too regarding the 'denominator' of the time signature. is it in 5/4 because you declare the pulse to be a quarter note (hence the 4 instead of some other number)? is it a 'quarter note' because it's the slowest beat that resets the pattern (half notes would diverge from the beat if you counted those instead)?

  • @M32Steven

it's in 5/4 because you see the measure is very short, if it was 5/8 then the beat would drag on being twice as long. whether it matters? if you're jamming with someone and tell them that it's in 5/8 instead of 5/4, then they'll play stuff twice as long or they're fills will be longer and such, which means the whole jam session would sound messed up.

    Hope that helped. =)

  • is this 5/4 or 5/8? and a better question, does it matter?

  • @dust2sday

Lars wishes he could drum like that...

  • stop Lars Ulrich'n this song

  • no question about it....ur a great drummer...I feel like u overplay it, so to speak...I sorta have the same feelings as @random 405

  • MCshlthead, couldnt agree with you more. The guy that made this video was clearly having fun. With that said I play the drums with radiohead songs, mainly In Rainbows but I think its more fun to play exactly like Phil. He's more of a complementry drummer.
