Transmitter Hunting

As a kid if you enjoyed hide and seek there is one hobby that may be just right for you. Transmitter hunting is an adult game of hide and seek which uses the same technology utilized for animal tracking, aircraft recovery and lo-jack systems. @SmokeTreeAllDay This, though, has practical applications. There have been several incidents since I got my license where RDF came in handy; tracking a small planes ELT when it went down in a rural area and tracking someone who had been jamming local police channels. Not so much with LARP.

Yep. Still more interesting than reality TV, or american idol, or sitting around a bar watching a huge screen tv showing overpaid little kids throwing a ball back and forth, or any number of other "hobbies".

It may be nerdy, but it's a chance to get out and drive around, a chance to see parts of the neighborhood that you may otherwise pass without a second thought. It's a chance to actually interact with people, not just sit on facebook all day or play WoW.
