Navy SEAL John Wayne Marcum was killed in Afghanistan on September 11, 2008.
These are photos and video I've collected during my 24-years as a Navy SEAL and from the Marcum family. Pictures from SEALs doing various training and deployments with SEAL Team overseas. BUD/S Training, SEAL Qualification Training, and SEAL Team is the order for guys aspiring to become Navy SEALs.
70-80% of BUD/S Trainee's will not survive SEAL Training with the toughest part being Hell Week, a grueling 5 and a half days with trainees continually on the move with little or no sleep.
Log PT, surf torture, boat drills and the mud flats it gets much better in SEAL Team as guys attend Jump School for static line and free fall parachuting, breaching school or sniper school to name a few and worth every push up they do in BUD/S Training,

  • I was lucky enough to be one of the many who knew John, and he lived his life with one purpose, to be a SEAL and to serve our wonderful country and he did it all with honor and valor. I miss him and think of him often. Eternal thanks to John, his daughter, sister (kapierle) and mom who survive him, for his honorable service. HOOYAH, HOOAH and RIP my friend!

  • Hmm? why it doesn't say anywhere he was awarded two SS and fifth BS medals

  • I cried

  • Honour to his memory ...

  • Well, with a name like John Wayne, it only stands to reason, you'd have to become a Navy SEAL.

  • @mexicoarde I don't know the comment you're responding to, but SEALs in general are not merely "ready to do violence". They are warriors---ready to rescue hostages, capture suitcase nuclear devices *before* they are deployed against civilians, ready to challenge them selves and come out on top. So a few Human hating terrorists have to die in the process. I, for one, am pleased that Bin Laden and any number of his Lieutenants have been voted off the planet. Hooyah!!

  • @hallparty hey i hope u will answer this.I wanna join the Marines.. i got a few "exposed" tattoos though,on my wrist and a small one on my neck..could i still join?

  • Oh May Word! From this clip I can see he was courages from a young age & I believed he left us doing what he loved. & at least his loved ones have joined him in the next place even though we wished any of them had left.

  • does anyone know how his wife died?

  • @Vroomerz Thank You very much my friend

  • The song is "Solsbury Hill" by Peter Gabriel. Every time I hear it, it tears me up. Like tonight at dinner in the restaurant.
