The amazingly detailed true story of "The Doolittle Raid" based on the novel of the same name. Stunned by Pearl Harbor and a string of defeats, America needed a victory - badly. To that end, Colonel Jimmy Dolittle, a former air racer and stunt pilot, devises a plan for a daring raid on the heart of Japan itself. To do this, he must train army bomber pilots to do something no one ever dreamed possible - launch 16 fully load bombers from an aircraft carrier! Remarkable in its accuracy, this movie even uses film footage from the actual raid.

  • Today i went to an estate sale and found a book titled: Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo, copyright 1943 Random House. It was old and neat looking. It has a little picture of a plane on the cover. I bought it for a quarter and when i got home, much to my surprise there is a signature inside. Ted Lawson signed this copy and I didn't realize just how big this really is till now!

  • @MrCagekicker Incredible Luck...

  • @LockAndLoadp apparently it isnt worth all that much monetarily, but in historical value i believe it is priceless. it will go next to my hitler youth knife and 20 dollar bill nazi money

  • @MrCagekicker I mean for finding a copy signed by Ted Lawson ...

  • Gen. Doolittle and the Tokyo Raiders are all true American Heroes. In an age where the word is thrown around all to lightly...these are uncommon men.

I saw Gen. Doolittle in 1986 and I have met about 30 of the Raiders and widows of the Raiders...including Ellen Lawson. (Her husband wrote the book '30 seconds over Tokyo.)

Great movie and thanks for posting. This comes from another time when men were men, a handshake meant something, and your word was your bond!

    Jimmy was short...but a giant!

  • Wonderful movie. One comment to Mr Bouncy Bounce. How dare you call any American a Nazi! Whatever our political beliefs, we all love America. Nazism is the antithesis to America. The libs say the right hates and calls names. The opposite is what I have heard and seen these last few years, and I am sick of it.

  • A GREAT, MUST-SEE Movie. Get it .. & keep it, folks. Add it to your collection of movie-entertainment / cum history / cum education about WW2. Eternal Remembrance & Reverance to The Doolittle Raiders & their bravery & extra-ordinary operational skill + courage. "Countrysamurai" is 100% correct in his comments above .. SPOT-ON !! Re this movie .. one of Bob Mitchum's earliest. And doesn't SHORTY steal these prelim. scenes : "Jimmy Doolittle !! A Southern Boy !! from Southern California"

  • I remember when I was young you could watch these films on Saturday mornings. Have not seen this one in many years.

  • @countrysamurai i'm sure you don't see the hypocrisy in your 2nd reply.

    good day to you sir.

  • @MisterBouncyBounce Wow...that's really insightful, considering you don't know a thing about me.

Thank you for the advice...I'll get right on that.

Cult...that's a good one! My first comment was right on the mark.

  • @countrysamurai you have joined a cult and don't realize it, do yourself the same favor you recommend to me.
