  • That fan behind me is only part of my ventilation setup in that video. But that is an old vid. These days the table is in front of a window with a big fan in the window and two fans on either side. All this said, hey, you guys are king when it comes to welding, not prancy artists like me even though nowadays I'm a bit more than a prancy artist. Even so, I highly respect your opinions on welding. Let it be said that this video is old and nowadays my workshop is much more organized.

  • @guyjeff1388 I know you are but what am I?

  • man, my job is very unsafe than, Flashcurtains full of rips and ppl welding 4 ft away, flashes were destroyin my eyes till its almost to the point where flashes dont happen. Structural steel welders (In the production enviroment get our safety jepordized over ridiculous qoutas. Aslong as #1 is making money they dont care. What is learned in college about a welders rights dont apply in some companys. Especially PRODUCTION WELDING ;[

  • sue them. your eyes are more important. and your lungs too. what do they make you breathe?

  • mate this is a serious safety risk... get off youtube, idiot

telling people to wear sunglasses while welding? i can't beleive it...

lets ignore flashback arrestors, ultraviolet light etc etc. mate you need to be banned this video is equivilent to telling users to drink poisons.

  • Dude. You are 23. I'm 47. Flashback arresters, etc.. . I'm just telling people to cover their freaking eyes! Ultraviolet light? Man, I've been doing this since I was a KID, like you. And how much do you know about oxy-acetylene welding anyway?

  • this video is rediculous, if your going to tell people how to be safe, for one it doesnt take 3 mins to tell someone to wear safety glasses, and those are not welding glasses.... learn your sh!* before your start saying "dont weld its not safe" your an idiot ....driving your car is not safe either.....the only reason your probably saying dont weld is because your most likely have no idea how to anway....you sound like you have no clue what your talking about......

  • do you weld for a liveing?

  • There called cutting glasses not welding glasses and they are a shade #5 or #7.......7 is to dark..............And the correct term for oxy-acetylene welding is brassing

  • I miss read your comment originally i thought u said u do not need vent.. My bad.. Glsd to hear and i sure hope u had flashback srrestors on at setup

  • Beauart get serious.. Ventilation not with oxy acet welding lol why is that? Sm of the fluxs found on diff rod s horrible for u. Ive been weldng for sopme time mysef and am fully ticketed withinterprovincal u really are not a welder just a prancy artist

  • he is right there is no market for Blind Welders!

  • a clean shop is a must for safety

  • playing it safe ehh?, 1:21 helps if you u don't have hair

  • you can even wear welding auto glass that what i used just use lower setting all so you should you a full mask not gogs unless you want to get burnt

  • The reccommended shade for the oxyacetylene welder is a shade 5 or higher!!!!!!

  • MATE! I have plenty of ventilation. Art student? No. Professional sculptor, MATE. 20 years making a living, MATE. Sunglasses? I'm not wearing sunglasses, MATE. Oxygen fed mask? Not for oxy-acetypline welding. Idiot. That's you, MATE.

  • or ignore things like shade filters settings on the lense??

SUNGLASSES instead of national approved UV protect lenses?? fume inhalation where toxic fumes require oxygen fed masks??

mate if you want to post a video do it on something where people won't KILL themselves imitating your advice

I think the emergency flag flies high when you say 'sculpting'... dumbass arse art student.. trying to get people killed

  • BA-LO-NY. It IS dangerous. Martial arts is also dangerous if you are good at it. I've done direct metal sculpture professionally for over 20 years and have been welding the better part of my life. Full face mask? Dude, not with oxy-acetylene welding. Wtf? Dude, get a life.

  • its not dangerous if ure good at it.

and why dont people wear full face masks? no wonder they think its a danger and gloves wtf?

  • Thanks!

  • shade no.5 is used fore oxy welding ido welding fore a liveing

  • i really meant that welding isnt dangerous if you are in a controlled enviornment like a metal shop because thats about all of the welding experiance ive had so far...good vid though

  • I can appreciate that. I've been welding for 30 years. I've hurt myself aplenty. As far as I'm concerned, welding is dangerous. So is carpentry, for that matter. And so on. But thanks for watching and speaking up.
