@AdrienChaos You have to remember that the auto-filter sweeps through frequencies and does not lower the volume of the track. This essentially means that you're letting frequencies interfere with your kick. The point of Compressor side-chaining is to reduce the volume of ALL frequencies to let your kick smash through your mix. Although similar, it's not the same effect.

@DJDrSciFi Well.. that's why we set the bus to "Pre Fader". Now you can mute, or automate the volume on the kick down and you'll get the sidechain effect without hearing the kick :) Maybe I should have mentioned that in the video..

@SuperiorNizzle Yes. Make sure the buss send it set to pre-fader (click and hold, it'll turn green once you pick the option), and then press 'a' on your keyboard to enter automation mode. Automate the volume on the kick channel all the way down, and the effect should still carry over to the send. Don't use the mute, because that overrides everything.

Is there anyway to keep the side chain going while the kick drum is muted? When I mute the kick the side chaining disappears.
