It's happening behind closed doors. The California Courts have taken on Perry v. Schwarzenegger, a case against the state of California, in which two couples assert that the majority does not have the right to vote away the rights of a minority group.

This case may go all the way to the US Supreme Court. It's time to sit down and listen. And it's time to stand up and speak.

  • What kind of society do we live in when Gays and Lesbians can't marry, but Murderers, Rapists, Child Abusers, People on Death Row,etc., etc. can?

  • I forget who the guest was, but some guy on The Daily Show once said, "This is a debate about whether you think marriage is blah blah blah," and I really liked Jon Stewart's response. He said, "I disagree; I think it's about whether you believe that homosexuals belong to the human condition or whether they're just freaks." (I'm paraphrasing.) That says it all, though.

  • Let's see... All tax-paying citizens can get married, EXCEPT certain people. In our founding documents, we state that everyone is equal, but the present interpretation restricts the rights of a small segment, due to the prejudice of some.

  • there's no such thing as rights you cretins! it's sad faggots can't tie the knot, however, a society has the be uniform to function properly. sad, but true.

unless you want things degenerating into anarchy later, back in the closet, please!

  • Isn't Preparation H something for piles?

  • @Plato86 Also your "overwhelming majority" argument also begs the question as to the progress these nations are making toward full equality. All of them are on that path. Canada used to have same sex unions as did the other nations who now have full equality.

  • @Plato86 Your xenophobic comment was regarding persecution (even puting to death) of gay people in other countries as being irrelevant to this discussion. What does and does not work in other nations is what I was clearly stating we should emulate and you've obviously missed the point about same sex marriage as there are also other nations (i.e. Canada, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Spain, etc.) so your same sex union argument evades the reality of these nations and their success with same s.m.

  • Xenophobe? What did I say that was xenophobic? Apparently you do not know the meaning of the word. So we should emulate what other nations are doing around the world? Following your logic, since the overwhelming majority of western liberal democracies do not have gay marriage, America should not either. After all nations like France, Germany and the U.K have had civil unions for gays and marriages for heterosexual people and no one is discriminated against.

  • @Plato86 Nope it is NOT irrelevant to the current discussion what is going on in other nations you xenophobe. We need to pay very close and special attention to what is going on in other nations so we don't make that same mistake and/or that we emulate what works in other nations. That's how our constitution was framed by our founders. They learned from the mistakes and the triumphs of other governments both ancient and modern and LGBT are a legitimate minority group who need protection.

  • I ment in America, it is irrelevant to the current discussion what is happening to gays in other nations.

  • @Plato86 Yes and Google what is going on in several African countries against LGBT people. Even dead gay people can't rest in peace. The bigoted lynch mob are digging up dead gay people and dragging them in the street and then leaving them at their mortified parent's doorstep. This is unthinkable and unimaginable but this is the kind of thing that is happening due to the hate toward gay people. Google "Even dead gay men aren't safe in some African countries."
